Description
Th e article describes an active approach to oral history in schools and provides the main guidelines and instructions for teachers and students, taken from the book Oral Sources as Part of Cultural Heritage: Active Oral History in History Lessons/Ustni viri kot del kulturne dediščine: aktivna ustna zgodovina pri pouku zgodovine (Trškan, 2018). An active approach to oral history can be implemented in seven steps: 1. Organizational and technical preparation; 2. Content preparation; 3. Conducting an interview; 4. Transcribing and recording; 5. Analysis and interpretation; 6. Publication and public presentation; 7. Preservation and public access. It is recommended that students and teachers observe all the phases of conducting oral history interviews (before the interview, during the interview, aft er the interview) and follow the practical guidance for conducting oral history interviews or projects. Th e article gives examples of self-refl ection and self-evaluation, which are also necessary to successfully implement active oral history in schools.
