Appraisal of records is one of the most important and most responsible archival tasks where the knowledge ofthe creator's records management system is essential. Courts ofjustice implement electronic records management gradually. Electronic registering of legal files interferes with the classical records management of courts and it is expected it will intervene also with the system of appraisal ofrecords which are created in the transitional time. Using the methods of description and argumentation, the paper presentsthe systems and standards for the appraisal of records and the system of the courts' electronic records management. A research has been conducted on the question of How electronic records management is implemented at six local courts pertaining to the court circuit of the Celje District Court. The results provide important information for the appraisal of records in hybrid form and about the electronic records management of courts.
