Collective remembrance in Slovenia regrets the division of Carinthia after the plebiscite; from the Slovenian perspective, the vote resulted in a great loss. In Austrian Carinthia the regional holiday of 10 October still plays an important, even a dominant role. In the present paper the three authors strive for an inclusive, cross-border culture of remembrance and for “learning from historical narratives” during school lessons, based on an empirical survey conducted at primary schools in Austrian Carinthia and the relevant literature.
