The Ribnica parish chronicle, encompassing the period between 1868 and 1917, is an important historical document that primarily focuses on describing religious life in the parish, but also sheds light on numerous disasters such as fires or extreme weather, as well as on the development of the town itself. The chronicle contains a record regarding the introduction of a water supply system, electrification, etc. Compiled by four Ribnica’s deans over the span of fifty years, the chronicle reflects their thinking and views of events that occurred in the period concerned. This was a time marked by political dissension among the Slovenes and the First World War. The parish chronicle offers only one perspective on the events that took place in the parish and the surrounding area.
