Moški pevski zbor Srečko Kosovel Ajdovščina sodi med najpomembnejše moške pevske sestave na slovenski pevski sceni in med najpomembnejša društva z območja Pokrajinskega arhiva v Novi Gorici. Društvo je ustvarilo in ohranilo obsežno dokumentarno in arhivsko gradivo, ki izpričuje bogato in uspešno dejavnost v več kot sedemdesetih letih delovanja. Odločilo se je, da ga uredi in popiše in za to opravilo pridobilo zgodovinarja – kustosa. Njegova ureditvena dela in zlasti njegov izredno podroben in obsežen popis je poseben primer pristopa k takemu opravilu. Čeprav ni bilo opravljeno vrednotenje in odbiranje arhivskega gradiva in kljub posameznim pomanjkljivostim ureditve in popisa, je prevzem arhivskega gradiva s takim pripomočkom za njegovo uporabo dragocena pridobitev za novogoriško arhivsko službo in za uporabnike tega arhivskega fonda.

      • The Regional Archives Nova Gorica acquired a comprehensive society fond of Srečko Kosovel Ajdovščina men‘s choir. The choir is one of the iconic male choruses in Primorska and the whole Slovenia. Comprehensive documents and archives attests to the rich and successful activities in more than seventy years of operation. The organization and acquisition of the society‘s archives is a unique as well as extraordinary example of societies‘ fond in the Regional Archives Nova Gorica. The society first needed to secure the help of the historian and curator from Ajdovščina who would arrange archives in order to provide a clear overview of comprehensive collection of archives. Organizational plan, method, and the level of detail of listing were chosen by the curator himself who in no way interefered with the appraisal, selection, and disposal of archives. He made an incredibly detailed listing encompassing 312 pages. In many units, the curator did not identify only the basic contents but also various additional descriptions. The Regional Archives acquired all archives as created, arranged, and recorded by the entity who transfered it to us. Archives encompass 22 archival boxes and were in the making between 1946 and 2000; the archives from the earliest days of the society are modestly preserved, from the second decade of choir‘s functioning onward, however, we can follow a larger quantity and variety of archives. Content compounds and forms of archives attest to a rich and colorful archival heritage of the society although not in its entirety: minutes of general assembly and meetings of committee, lists and index cards of singers, statistical reports, time sheets, various documents of numerous performances in Slovenia and abroad, attendances of ceremonies, appearances in magazines, festivals, contests and other various events, documents on celebrating anniversaries of the society, awards and rewards, recording for television and radio shows, preparation of records and cassettes, extensive collection of newspaper articles, valuable collection of photos, cards, and acknowledgements. Despite the facts that the appraisal and selection of archives were not performed, certain tasks still lie ahead of the archivist, and the arrangement and recording of archives have individual weaknesses, the acquisition of archives with such an aid for its use is a valuable addition to the archives service in Nova Gorica and for the users if this archival fond.
