Description
The Slovene Film Archive (SFA), the unit of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia, joined in the celebration of the hundred's anniversary of the Slovene film by organizing the congress of the FIAF, The International Federation of Film Archives and Cinematheques, which took place in June 2005 in Ljubljana. SFA was established in the year 1968 and it has been one of the oldest institutions of its kind in the Central European area. It has been keeping the majority of the original picture negatives and sound negatives of the Slovene film heritage, including the first Slovene films of Dr. Karol Grossmann, dating back to the years 1905 and 1906; Grossmann's films were restored and changed to digital. The hundred's anniversary of the Slovene film is probably an occasion for the consideration of the fact that without the preservedfilm heritage, only something void of contents would be celebrated, or may be, it would only be the matter of the solemnization of the year 1905.
