Graduate thesis describes political and cultural conditions in Ljubljanska pokrajina at the beginning of the second world war. It gives brief historical review of publishing and bookselling development in Slovenija and divides wartime publishing in three major periods. In the first period which started with Italian occupation and lasted till late autumn 1942 the publishing activity regressed. The second period was marked by revitalisation of publishing activity. It started in October 1942 when the last major book collection Dobra knjiga was founded and ended with Italian capitulation in September 1943. The publishing activity expanded in the third period that lasted until the end of the world war. It reflected the influences of the current political situation. The thesis presents the most important publishers in 1942 and lists bibliography of all Slovene books that were published in the year in Ljubljanska pokrajina.
