Schlaraffia Marpurghia in Maribor was part of the large organisation seated in Prague, which promoted the enjoyment of art, humour and fraternity. It acted according to strict rules and ceremonials. As of 1988, when it weas founded, the share of Austro-Hungarian military officers various artists and rich borugerois, was high, within it. Fraternal societies were also in Ljubljana and Ptuj. On the former we know little, whereas on the latter a significant number of records has been preserved. After National Socialists came to power in Germany in 1933, and particularly after 1938, when the German Reich occupied Austria, Nazism asserted itself in these socities, where German was the language of communication. Most probably, the Maribor society dispersed itself by itself, there are no data on the Ljubljana one, whereas the one at Ptuj was disbanned in 1942 by the commissioner for rescissions of the NAZI civil administration for lower Styria.
