Časopis za zgodovino in narodopisje

The author, in this treatise, investigates the origin of three altar paintings in the Church of St. John the Baptist in Letuš by Braslovče, four paintings in the parish church of Laško and the protrait of the Ljubljana bishop Tomaž Hren. All pictures are linked by the same design characteristics. The identity of the "Letuš master" is linked to the person of Peter Steidler; the family relationship between the painter father and the son, the Braslovče parish priest Karl Andrej Stiedler (1657-1679) is indicative. On the basis of the determined facts, the author reasonably hypothesises that it is possible to attribute the mentioned pictures to the painter Peter Seidler.
