Between 1912 and 1919, the institute in Veržej, which was founded, as to property, by the Pušenjak family from Veržej and by the dr. Fran Kovačič, acted as an educational institution for pupils from German speaking lands, wishing to enter the Salesian community of monks. By its intent and by the composition of its pupils, as well as by the team of teachers, it was an international institutions, where German language and the intent, which the community of monks determined in the light of opening of new forms of work in Austria and Germany. The number of Slovenians rose with the years and later the institute was devoted exclusively to them.
