The Non-Classical Secondary School (»Realschule«) in Maribor was — due to the endeavours of the citizens — founded in 1870 as a school institution that should contribute to the development of crafts, industry and trade. In accordance with the valid school regulations a teachers' — and students' library were established.

      • Mariborsko realko so po prizadevanju meščanov ustanovili l. 1870 kot šolski zavod, ki naj bi pripomogel k razvoju obrti, industrije in trgovine. V skladu z veljavnimi Šolskimi odredbami je šola izoblikovala profesorsko in dijaško knjižnico.
