Description

After the overthrow in the year 1918 the Slovene culture at Maribor had essentially better conditions for its development in the new State. Freed from the oppressions of the germanization it established a professional theatre, agitated the musical, plastic and literary activity, consolidated various libraries, museums and archives and united them in an organization at the time between the wars. In the town several periodical publications were issued, among them the Review for History and Ethnography. Central stations for numerous cultural — educational organizations from the areas of North-East Slovenia were also active at Maribor.

      • Slovenska kultura v Mariboru je imela po prevratu 1. 1918 v novi državi bistveno boljše razmere za svoj razvoj. Osvobojena germanizacijskih pritiskov je v času med vojnama ustvarila poklicno gledališče, razgibala glasbeno, likovno in literarno dejavnost, utrdila vrsto knjižnic, muzej, arhiv ter se organizacijsko povezala. V mestu je izhajalo več periodičnih publikacij, med njimi Časopis za zgodovino in narodopisje. V Mariboru so bile tudi dejavne centrale številnih kulturno-prosvetnih organizacij z območja severovzhodne Slovenije.
