In the years 1941 to 1945 Maribor was the centre of the German occupation units of Low Styria. Since the arrival of the chief of the civil administration dr. Siegfried Uiberreither on April 14th 1941 all the more important occupying offices of the occupier worked here. The occupying apparatus whose main task it was to germanize Maribor and the Slovene Styria completely and as soon as possible, began its activity immediately after the plans prepared already in advance. Six circuits were established on the territory of Low Styria.
