Description
The poet, the literary and cultural historian, profesor Janko Glazer devoted himself intensivly from his childhood to the Slovene literary history and to literature in general. Therefore he applied for a librarian's place in the Reference Library at Maribor in 1926. he was selected among many reputable applicants and so he became the first regularly appointed librarian in that institution. He was charged with putting it up on a new basis corresponding to up-to date librarianship. He did his woik excellently and this was one of the main motives that he was appointet director of the library in 1931.

      • Pesnik, literarni In kulturni zgodovinar, profesor Janko Glazer se je od mladih let intenzivno ukvarjal s slovensko slovstveno zgadovino in knjigo nasploh. Zato se je leta 1926 potegoval za razpisano mesto bibliotekarja v mariborski Študijski knjižnici. Med več uglednimi prosilci je bil izbran in tako je postal prvi redno nameščeni knjižnični delavec v tej ustanovi. Naloženo mu je bilo, da jo postavi na nove, sodobnemu bibliotekarstvu ustrezne temelje. Delo je opravil zgledno, kar je bil eden od glavnih razlogov, da so ga leta 1931 imenovali za ravnatelja knjižnice.
