The manorial estate of Laško - one of the largest in Slovenia - was established at the beginning of the 12th century by Bernard Spanheim. The Babenbergs, the inciters of Zidani most and of the borough of Laško also devoted every attention to this manorial estate. Towards the middle of the 14th century Radeče too became a borough inside manorial estate. The beginnings of the healthresort of Rimske Toplice date from the middle of the 15th century, those of the health-resort of Laško from the end of the same century. At the beginning of the 16th century there were an astonishing numberof wineyards in the manorial estate of Laško. In the middle of the 16th century freeholders appeared in great numbers in the manorial estate. The sources for the tollhouses at Radeče and Laško have run from 1563, for the school of Laško from 1572. About the year 1600 the getting of iron and copper began near Radeče, cannon balls were being produced at Radeče. In 1620 the Moškons bought the manorial estate of Laško from the sovereign, which detoriated the postion of the burghers and of the subjects. Both took eagerly part in the big Second Slovene Peasants' Uprising of 1635.
