The article treats the hardest period for the liberation movement in Šaleska
dolina (the Valley of Salek) as well as In several regions of Slovene
Styrla. The Nazi violence reached Its culmination. During the time of the
war of national Independence four hundred and fifty two persons from
Šaleška dolina gave their lives for liberty — fallen fighters In the war of
national liberation and the victims of fascist violence. From this number
there were a hundred and forty three victims for liberty in the year 1942.
During the period treated In this article the Nazis shot seventy collaborators
of the liberation movement from Šaleška dolina at Maribor and Celje,
but during the whole year 1942 seventy six. The Germans arrested the relatives
of the shot and of the Partisans and most of them were sent to
concentration camps. The actions of the Partisans were numerous even
during this hard period and the occupier was seized by uncertainty and fear.
