The paper presents three central Hungarian web portals that provide modern and uniform access to archival materials: the Digital Archives Portal (ELP), the Online Database (AOL) and Hungaricana. These are interconnected information systems used by Hungarian archives, museums and libraries to publish, search and manage digitised content. The portals enable researchers, material creators and the general public to easily search, order and use archival materials, and at the same time represent an important tool for the protection, accessibility and promotion of cultural heritage in the digital environment. The Hungarian approach in the field of digitisation, uniform search interfaces and linking of collections represents a good example of development practice that could be followed in Slovenia. Comparing the systems opens up opportunities for upgrading domestic platforms, especially in the field of a more uniform search environment, metadata standardization and better user experience when accessing digital content.
