In the paper, the author presents the tasks, circumstances of its formation, changes in the normative framework and powers, and the practice of the Archival Commission, with the historical outline also being connected to the twenty-fifth anniversary of the aforementioned body. In presenting the work of the Archival Commission, the author focuses primarily on its work in the last three appointments, i.e. the period after 2012. The reason for this time limit is simple: after the aforementioned year, the work of the Archival Commission has significantly intensified, initially mainly due to changes in the way existing legislation is implemented, and later also due to legal changes. The emphasis on providing a more comprehensive account of the commission's activities over the course of the last three appointments is also due to the fact that the author himself has served as a member of the Archival Commission during this period.
