Is an Archivist Also an Educator?

Description

The article presents the pedagogical activity of all units of the Historical Archives Ljubljana over the past three decades. This includes training employees to work with documentary and archival materials, mentoring or consulting researchers, guiding exhibitions and, most often, presenting archives and archival materials to school groups. The nature of the work of an archivist requires more and more pedagogical competencies and knowledge that go beyond classic description and arranging materials. One future profession to which archives should give more consideration is an archivist educator.

      • Prispevek predstavlja pedagoško dejavnost vseh enot Zgodovinskega arhiva Ljubljana zadnjih treh desetletij. Ta obsega izobraževanje delavcev za delo z dokumentarnim in arhivskim gradivom, mentorstvo, svetovanje pri raziskovanju, vodenje po razstavah ter najpogosteje predstavitve arhiva in arhivskega gradiva šolskim skupinam. Narava dela arhivista zahteva vse več pedagoških kompetenc in znanj, ki presegajo klasično popisovanje in urejanje gradiva. Arhivist pedagog je eden od poklicev prihodnosti, ki jih arhivi nujno potrebujejo.
