The author sheds light on the long process of transformation of Slovenian society from agrarian to industrial and post-industrial. It was a broad and complex period in time, during which multiple economic crises, wars, and changes in political and economic systems occurred. These changes contributed to the shifting relationship between labor, industry, and capital. The narrative begins in the 1830s with the establishment of industrial plants and intensified with the expansion of the railway network in the following decades. The paper traces the journey from the rise of industry to its decline and the eventual sell-off of industrial companies and brands, concluding with developments in independent Slovenia.
