The paper is dedicated to the Support Society for the Blind and the driving force behind the establishment of the first Slovenian association for persons with special needs, Alojzij Levstek, who was also a social activist and advocate for spreading the use of Esperanto among the blind and partially sighted. The papers by Mimi Breznik, both of which were published in the conference proceedings Zbornik slepih Svetloba izpodriva temo, were utilised for the period before 1940. Through her captivating life tale, his daughter Danica Pogačnik brought back memories of Alojzij Levstek. We have compiled a brief overview of the Support Society for the Blind and Alojzij Levstek based on materials held in the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia.
