The article provides a concise overview ofthe last 20 years ofthe VIRI(transl. Sources) series, which has been published by the Archival Society of Slovenia since 1980 and currently consists of 46 volumes as of May 2024. Twentyfive volumes have been published in the past twenty years, with three different archivists holding the position of chief editor. They struggled more with a lack of enthusiasm in publishing such publications among Slovenian archivists and the interested professional public than they did with a lack of funds, irregular financing, or conflict within the editorial board. In spite of all this, the VIRI series has been published more or less consistently since 1989 and is now a vital resource for compiling synthesis of different periods of Slovenian history.
