The unified filing of records created by educational institutions is being introduced with the introduction ofthe Single classification codes plan with retention periods for educational institutions (kindergartens, primary schools, institutions for the education and training of children and adolescents with special needs, music schools, secondary schools, student dormitories, higher professional schools, and organisations for adult education; Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 66/2014). The information system for main taining records, which is becoming more and more prevalent in education along with the computerization of office operations, must be unified in order to maintain electronic records. The article demonstrates how the classification strategy is put into practise and highlights possible difficulties that may have arisen from the moment of its implementation for the creators of archival material in the field of education.
