Description

In the period between 1945 and 1965, women’s sport experienced some changes that contributed to greater gender equality in the field of sport. However, the percentage of women in the biggest competitions only increased slowly, and the media image of women’s sport was poor. In Yugoslavia, which immediately followed the trends of the Soviet Union, the situation was similar. Major changes occur only in the sixties when the number of disciplines in which women were allowed to perform significantly increased. Yugoslav sportswomen have only started to take part in the biggest competitions in this period, but top achievements have not yet been recorded. Nevertheless, they have achieved good results at the national championships in strong competition.
