Description
Dr. Jaromir Beran was born on March 7, 1909 in Maribor. He graduated from clasical high school in 1927, studien law at the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana and graduduated in 1940. After completing his traineeship he obtaned a position at the Faculty of Law where he worked as librarian until 1952. In the winter term of 1952,after Professor Janko Polec had retired and Professor Josip Žontar had left the faculty, Beran took over the classes on the history of law. As a law history professor he tried to establish a unified program for teaching this subject throughout then Yugoslavia. In 1976 he retired from the Faculty of Law.

- Dr. Jaromir Beran se je rodil 7.3.1909 v Mariboru. Po maturi na klasični gimnaziji 1927 se je vpisal na Pravno fakulteto v Ljubljani, kjer je diplomiral leta 1940. Po opravljenem pripravništvu je našel službo na Pravni fakulteti, v knjižnici, kjer je bil zaposlen kot bibliotekar do 1952. Po odhodu v pokoj prof. Janka Polca in odhodu iz fakultete prof. Josipa Žontarja je v zimskem semestru 1952 prevzel predavanja iz pravne zgodovine. Kot profesor za pravno zgodovino je skušal tudi oblikovati enoten program za pouk pravne zgodovine v vsej tedanji Jugoslaviji. Na Pravni fakulteti je ostal vse do upokojitve leta 1976.
