Description
The paper examines Slovene political and other cartoons from the period of WWI, trying to illuminate the circumstances in which they had originated, and the reasons for their creation. The authors of cartoons in the satirical paper the Kurent (1918–1919), the Kurentov album (1918), the satirical supplement of the Dan daily, the Bodeča neža (1914), the Svetovna vojska magazine (1914–1915), or of cartoons on postcards were Hinko Smrekar, Maksim Gaspari, and Fran Podrekar. These cartoons rank among the best Slovene satirical drawings, and directly reflect the feelings of Slovenes living in that period. Like other written sources, they represent a valuable document of their time.

      • Pregled slovenskih političnih in drugih karikatur iz obdobja 1. svetovne vojne in osvetlitev razmer in razlogov, zaradi katerih so nastale. Avtorji karikatur v satiričnem listu Kurent (1918–1919), Kurentovem albumu (1918), satirični prilogi dnevnika Dan Bodeča neža (1914), reviji Svetovna vojska (1914–1915), na razglednicah idr. so Hinko Smrekar, Maksim Gaspari in Fran Podrekar. Karikature se uvrščajo v vrh slovenske likovne satire in so neposreden odraz razmišljanj Slovencev tedanje dobe ter podobno kot pisno gradivo lahko predstavljajo dragoceno dokumentarno pričevanje.
