Born on September 19, 1931 in Celje, Štefan Trojar received his B.A. in history from the
Ljubljana Faculty of Arts in 1955. Between 1956 and 1977 he was teaching social sciences in
secondary schools in the Primorsko region and in Ljubljana. He has been lecturing the subject
titled Methods of Teaching History at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana since 1977. He received
his doctorate of pedagogics with the dissertation Methodological and Didactic History Curriculum
Structures in Common Educational Groundwork and their Influence on the Design
and Planning of Classes. His work focused mainly on the development and design of history
classes in primary and secondary schools. Trojar is the author of numerous articles and textbooks,
textbook, workbook and manual reviews, and also worked as editor. His most important
publication, published in 1993, is titled Contemporary Historic Wiews – Reformatory
Aspirations in Social Sciences.
