Description
After a brief historiography of the events connected with the so-called Hungarian uprise in 1956, the author focuses on the principal moot questions between Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union and their Communist Parties that arose as the result of the Soviet military intervention in Hungary; this chapter has been based on the analysis of two extensive documents. The main controversies between the two countries concerned the Soviet reproaches to the Yugoslav government that it had broken the Brioni Agreement, and Yugoslav recriminations that the Soviet military stifling of the Hungarian rebellion had been a serious mistake.
