Analyzed are the beginnings of ski jumping in Slovenia and their transformation into one of the
strongest Slovene winter sports, a sport that became recognized all over the world during the
first ski jumping championship in Planica in 1934. Especially interesting are the descriptions
of the origins and development of the giant ski jump in Planica, of important championships
and of the administrative battles for the recognition of Planica and ski flying as a new sports
discipline.
