Description
We researched the development in Kostel manor from the last Turkish attacks in the late 16th
century up to the time of the last landlords of the family Langenmantl in the late 17th century.
By using some archive sources for the first time, we described the defense, taxes, trade and
rebellions in Kostel. We proved that by living far enough from the battles of the thirty years
Kostelans prospered with the trade to the free harbors of Zrinjski. Their success can be connected
with the high number of their packhorses.

- Opisujemo razvoj gospostva Kostel v stoletju po zadnjih tur{kih vpadih do zadnjih graščakov iz rodu Langenmantlov. Z uporabo doslej neobdelanega arhivskega gradiva obravnavamo organizacijo obrambe, davke, trgovino in kmečke v upore v Kostelu. Dokazujemo, da sta relativno zatišje med tridesetletno vojno in tovorjenje v svobodna pristanišča Zrinjskih omogočili v turških vojnah preizkušenim Kostelcem razmeroma hiter gospodarski vzpon. Uspešnost kostelskih tovornikov povezujemo z velikim številom njihovih tovornih živali.
