The contribution discusses house property in the Slovenian Styrian market town of Ljutomer from its beginnings in the thirteenth century to the creation of the Franciscean Cadastre in 1824, which featured the first detailed layout of the settlement. Houses are discussed in the light of sources available, such as various tax registers and surveys, the land register, and the cadastre. A more integral and detailed selection is provided of sources that are the most relevant or the most informative for understanding the problem under discussion. Another aim of the contribution is to present the possibilities and work methods for conducting further research. Given the relatively well-preserved status and diversity of sources, a historical outline of all houses in Ljutomer can be produced for the period spanning centuries to present day.
