The article presents an overview of the development path of the Upper Ljutomer seigniory between the end of the Middle Ages and its abolition in 1848. The original size of the seigniory remains unknown and can only be speculated on based on the scope of the provincial court Ljutomer and those of both local vicariate parishes seated in Ljutomer and Sv. Križ (Križevci), respectively. During the transition between the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period, the then owner, provincial prince, granted the Ljutomer seigniory to the Schweinbeck (Schweinpeck) family and thus turned it into a private hereditary property. The article describes the main phases that individual parts of what was once a territorially uniform seigniory underwent, passing into the hands of individual members of noble families which then held them for generations.
