Judiciary, as one of government branches basing on legislation and constitutional laws, was reorganized many times in Yugoslavia. One of the most important changes was the reorganization of courts of justice in 1979, which enforced the operation of basic courts, higher courts and the Supreme Court of the Socialist Republic of Slovenia. Using the method of description and historical overview, the article presents the network of courts in the period between 1979 and 1994, their organization and administration. The knowledge of court administration and organization is key to appraisal of archival records and preparation of written professional instructions.
