Viewed from the perspective of historiography, Slovene national interests were manifested in different ways. Depending upon the general social, political, and economic circumstances, each period brought forth its own unique aspects. The prevailing characteristic of the period from the mid-1850s to the Second World War was the emphasis on the »national (Slovene) aspect.« Its principal objective was economic autonomy of Slovenia. There were, however, occasional digressions and discrepancies in the process of defining Slovene national economic interest.

      • V zgodovinski perspektivi se je tematika nacionalnega interesa kazala na različne načine, vsaka doba je prinašala svoje poudarke, ki so bili odvisni od splošnih socialnih, političnih in gospodarskih razmer. Za obravnavano dobo je potrebno poudariti praviloma prevladujoči kriterij nacionalnega/slovenskega kot osnovno točko opredelitve. Slovensko lastništvo gospodarskih subjektov je bil cilj in kriterij »narodnega interesa«. Nobena doba pa ni enoznačna, zato je v razpravi opozorjeno tudi na izjeme in na odstopanja oziroma občasna protislovja v procesu definiranja slovenskega nacionalnega gospodarskega interesa.
