The Article contains the overview of the whole monitoring process of the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities, referring to the Slovene minority in Italy. It starts with the review of the State Report, continues with the examination of all the references to the Slovene minority through the steps of the monitoring process, and ends with the adoption of theConclusions and Recommendations of the Committee of Ministers. The process should be considered an interesting Case Study, as it contains reference to bilateral agreements and domestic law, as well as to the Framework Convention. The involvement of the diplomacy of the Republic of Slovenia adds to the process further international dimension. In the conclusion the author states that due to the fact that during the monitoring process Italy still discussed and finally adopted the new legislation, the real evaluation of the implementation of the FCNM will only be possible later on, after Italy has produced its second report.
