The article discusses the former furnishings of Baron Karl Born’s residence at Puterhof (Jelendol), which were first confiscated along with other movable and immovable property by the German occupying forces in 1941 and subsequently by the new Yugoslav authorities in 1945. A more precise insight into how the Born residence was furnished before the Second World War is provided by a number of documents containing lists of confiscated furniture, paintings, and other items from Puterhof. The analysis of data obtained from archival sources, coupled with scanty pictorial material and individual testimonies, sheds informative light on the dwelling culture of the successful noble family, whose entrepreneurship and sound management left a lasting and decisive mark on the life in Tržič and its surroundings.
