The article addresses memorials that were intended for or put up in the lobby of the University of Ljubljana’s Rectorate at Kongresni trg. Universities are supposed to be non-political institutions; however, memorials with political connotation are often found on their premises, which holds true also for the university at hand. As the main area of the Slovene central higher education institution, the lobby was fi tted with politically appropriate memorials that suited the respective authorities and most of which did not survive the change of regime. On the other hand, no unveiling ceremonies were held for a surprisingly substantial portion of memorials.
