The article deals with the strategies women used when entering politics at the beginning of the century. With the political fight between the Catholic and the Liberal parties growing ever more intense, both sides wanted their "movement" to attract every inhabitant of the Slovenian lands, women among them. Both the Catholic and Liberal camps hastened to set up their own network of organizations to spread their ideologies. Even though they were not allowed to join political societies, women began taking part at party meetings. The parties thus recognized the great potential women had and mobilized them for propagandist purposes, which is why, instead of becoming a goal, democracy remained rather a means.
