Description
In the introductory part of his article the author briefly summarizes the aim of various kinds of hospitals in the Middle Ages, and he pays a special attention to the so-called civic hospitals. Then the author discusses the German civic hospital at Lenart in the Slovenske gorice region, established rather late, that is in the year 1625. The author then thoroughly deals with the charter of the consituition by the donator Herberstein dating from 1661 or 1672, from which the purpose of the institution, the manner of its management, briefly, all the rights and duties of the founder of the hospital are clearly seen, as well of the Lenart community and of those who are treated in the hospital. Then the author discusses all the major changes of the institution in the following centuries.
