In Kocjančič’s factory of sanitary material at Vir near Domžale, which was opened in 1923, workers were incited to form the trade unions by a large strike at the paper-mill Količevo in 1935. In spring 1936 the workers decided to join the Christian Socialist Yugoslav Professional Union. The workers in the Kocjančič’s factory had to win their right to establish the proffesional organization, trade unions, by organizing a strike which lasted for ten days in July 1936. After a successful strike “The Professional Group of Textile Workers at Vir near Domžale” won a collective contract, it led a number of successful agitations for wages, it organized a celebration on the 1st of May, it organized educational and cultural activity as well as the cooperation of its members at some performances of general Slovene significance, its participation at some district meetings organized against rising prices, and so on. The influence of the Communist Party can be seen in the successful action for the establishment of the Society of Friends of the USSR.
