The author wishes to present the results of the thirty years of research of Slovene local economic and social history. The success is not negligible. In these three decades the Slovene research workers have caught up with the contemporary situation in the field of research of Slovene economic and social history, they have achieved the European level, as regards the quantity as well as the quality of research works. In some spheres, as it is true of the colonization period, we have joined those European nations, which have completed their investigations of colonization history. The best investigations have been done for the Gorenjska region — among all regions in Slovenia. This is not the case only for the period until the 19th century, but also for later periods. The city of Ljubljana has also been investigated in the field of its economy and social history most thoroughly, and besides, the investigations were carried out in a planned way. The regions which have so far been investigated in a minor scope are Istria, a part of Notranjska, Dolenjska and Prekmurje.
