First of all the author discusses briefly the term »local history«, and then she tries to establish all works which treat local history in Slovenia. She states that data concerning local history are gathered in individual publications, »Festschriften« and annals, as well as spread out in various reviews and magazines. She stresses especially the role and importance of the review »Kronika«, which deals only with Slovene local history. A great number of data on local history are given in »Krajevni leksikon Slovenije« (The Local Encyclopedia of Slovenia), and various guide books (»Kulturni in naravni spomeniki Slovenije« — Cultural and Natural Monuments of Slovenia, various guides for tourists and guides for montaineers). In a range of individual publications on local history she makes a distinction, and places, on the one hand, extensive monographic studies, and on the other, minor local investigations. The annals are divided into three categories (1. annals, which already have the character of periodical publications; 2. annals, which are issued at irregular longer intervals; 3. annals, which appear only once.) In the second part of the article the selection of most important works on local history is given according to various regions. Only synthetic works and annals are mentioned here.
