Description
Although Bleiweis’s »Novice« were not a political newspaper until the time of the March Revolution, they played an important role at creation of a unified and independent Slovene movement. »Novice« were not aware of this fact, but it performed this role simply by gathering the broadest circle of Slovene inteligentsia, being the only existing Slovene newspaper of this period, and because they regularly appeared in the last five years before the Revolutions in all the provinces where Slovenes lived. The purpose of this article was to define in detail the role of "Novice” and to explain the development of some questions belonging to the framework of national self-awareness by quotations and various other facts.
