Political and legal absolutism reorganized the administration together with the extension of the activity of the State in the middle of the 18th century, and introduced new authorities for provinces and districts. The relations between the old autonomy of the town and the State administration changed because the new State organs began to interfere, with their functions, with the spheres that had been until then reserved for the self-management of the town. The Municipal Council of Ljubljana objected to such interventions and so often disputed especially with the Perfect of the district. The Council tried to obtain support from the Court Authorities but without any succes. So in the absolute State the town administration became a part of the State official system and had to subordinate to the State Authorities.
