The article describes, on the basis of newspaper reports, the wages and strike movement in the Slovene part of Styria in the decade 1890—1900. This is the time when, after the fundation of the Social Democratic Party, the workers’ movement becomes widely spread. This development is also reflected in wages and strike movement which, surpassing spontaneous movements, grows into organized actions, with the working class becoming better and better professionally organized.
