In the article the author presented an incident that happened on October 25, 1682 in the priest’s house in St. Stephen in the Zilja valley in Carinthia; consequently, a citizen and merchant named Jakob Tollmainer from Kranj had to defend himself before the church court in Ljubljana — the charge was murder. This article is interesting not only from the juridical and historical points of view but also from the point of view of ethnography since it presents the cultivation of Carinthian song in the Slovene part of Carinthia in the course of the 18th century.
