The paper »Carinthia to Carinthians« began to be published in 1919 by the then Kärnten Heimatdienst and was intended for the population of the Plebiscite territory. The paper’s orientation was extremely anti-Yugoslav; it was backed by Hans Steinacher who also chose the paper’s name. It was printed in Slovene, all geographical names were Slovene, too; only occasionally one finds a bilingual use and even here the Slovene form comes first. The author describes the contents of the paper in the pre-Plebiscite period when all possible means were used to misrepresent the newly-formed Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (SHS); in the days following the Plebiscite the paper discusses the economic rebirth of the newly regained territory as well as the promise that the Slovene countrymen will be able to have the benefit of all linguistic and national particularities — which, as we know, has not become true.
