On the basis of the published official statistical data provided by the census in the years 1869, 1880’, 1890, 1900 and 1910, the author presents the degree of economic and social development of the administrative district of Radovljica in the final decades of the 19th century and in the years preceding World War I. An analysis reveals certain pecularities that are not to be found in the development of Slovene national territory. The population-growth is slower. The part of the population which made its living by way of agriculture decreases fairly quickly while the opposite trend is obvious with that part of the population which lived on trade and industry and which was considerably higher than on the Slovene national territory.
