In the llth century a few landed properties were formed on the territory of Bled, among them also the most important one belonging to the bishops of Freising. It centre was the territory around the lake of Bled for the bishops owned land in the neighbouring villages. The feudal relations, fairly quickly established in the course of the llth century, bore no specific characteristics. With the break-through of the economy where goods were exchanged for money on the verge of New era, farmers started to reach more and more into non-agricultural activities (trade, transport, forging, charcoal-making, forestry). To the increased pressure of tenants who actually managed the property, they answered with complaints and rebellions (1515, 1635). Somewhere in the middle of the 16th century Reformation was getting more and more influential in the villages around Bled. The following century is characterized by an increased social stratification of the population. The position of subjects was improved only with the reforms of the 18th century when temporary, lease was changed into hereditary, when parish property was distributed, and when a new patent was issued which gave the peasants their personal freedom.
