Description
The first general meeting ofthe Association of Slovene tacher’s societies took place in Ljubljana on the 22nd and 23rd of April 1889. This contribution tries to show on basis of letters and memories of individual teachers the mood of that period among teachers, and the course of the meeting. Special attention is given to the central lecture on the meeting: On Reforming Public Education. In it the teacher from Gorica Andrej Gabršček suggested changes in the primary school law.
